Just back from an unexpected 75th birthday week in Istanbul, Turkey, visiting my sister and sadly had to miss the FAC gathering which had been on my calendar since the spring. I am not surprised though very pleased that it was so wonderful—folkdancers across the country are some of the most welcoming and connected communities around, and we have created an especially strong and supportive community here for which we can be truly grateful. It carries us through stressful times both personal and nation-wide. It provides musical endorphins, eye twinkles, hands holding, fun coordination challenges and food for body and soul. What a treasure we have!
